Bob Willis Trophy
County Cricket is underway but haven't seen a thread for it. The Bob Willis Trophy replaces the County Championship this season as the 4 day competition.

Opening round wins for Sussex against Hampsire, Derbyshire v Notts, Yorkshire v Durham, Leicestershire v Lancashire, Worcester v Gloucester, Somerset v Glamorgan and Middlesex v Surrey.

Warwickshire and Northants drew and most importantly Essex sent Kent packing back over the bridge with their tails between their legs.

Re: Bob Willis Trophy
My impression was that he wasn’t legally obliged to find that money but was honourable in doing that
But he gave his wife his house and was left homeless
Too honorable , too generous and too proud to accept help when he needed it

Re: Bob Willis Trophy
Yes, let's blame the ex wife for his financial woes and conveniently forget the bloke who ran off with £40000.

Re: Bob Willis Trophy
Yes, it is a sad story
Sounds like he was too generous to his ex-wife and too proud to accept help when he really needed it.

That's sad to read one of the great Cowdrey cricketing dynasty

Re: Bob Willis Trophy
That would probably be good for his Test prospects but unfortunately the quota of 3 English born players is full at the moment.

I'd prefer him to be playing in the SHEFFIELD SHIELD

Re: Bob Willis Trophy
Thought you'd be excited that Dan Lawrence of Essex is getting experience in an international tournament

And getting to spend December anywhere but Essex
Good for him

SQUAWK BIG BASH SQUAWK

Re: Bob Willis Trophy
The Big Bash has allowed a third overseas player per team as the Australian team will be taking a squad of 17 to each Test going on at the same time. First squad was named overnight

England have a white ball tour going on for the early period of the tournament but an extremely large number will feature for some or all matches.
Banton, Gregory, Malan, Hales, Billings, Vince, T Curran, Roy, Bairstow, Salt etc

I thought those Samuels comments were a spoof at first they are so outrageous. What a disgusting racist individual. he needs banning by the cricketing authorities.

99 for Chris GAYLE in the IPL today ... including his 1,000th (ONE THOUSAND) SIX in T20 matches.

Next best is Kieran POLLARD with 690

Re: Bob Willis Trophy
It's a bit odd hardly any UK media outlet is reporting it all.
They'd be all over it if it were Ben Stokes saying it.

Re: Bob Willis Trophy
Vile stuff from Samuels, wonder what the press would've been like had it been the other way round?

Has anyone asked Michael Holding his opinion on the matter?

Re: Bob Willis Trophy
You're probably bang on the money there.

It does sound like he's universally hated by all though.

Sven Roeder 3:45 Wed Oct 28
Re: Bob Willis Trophy
If Stokes or Warne had said the same to Samuels they'd be banned for an extensive period
This will be a 3 day wonder given its racism by a West Indian

Re: Bob Willis Trophy
Can anyone else see Marlon Samuels getting away with what he's done?
